Summary:

Position specification:
Education Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional skills:
Must be able to assist and supervise residents with their activities of daily living to include transferring, bathing, eating, dressing, grooming, medication assistance, and toileting.
Must monitor residents' physical and health care needs and document in the communication log daily, notify the administrator and nurse of all concerns.
Must have basic computer skills for word processing.
Must receive and direct visitors professionally ad courteously within appropriate hospitality guidelines.
Must have basic writing and math skills.
Must be able to prioritize activities and perform and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must have communication skills in the predominant language of the property.
Must have language skills sufficient to communicate with people with hearing impairments and over the phone.
Must demonstrate competence in serving the needs of aged and chronically ill residents.
Must have knowledge of residents' and respect these rights at all times.
Must have appropriate knowledge of policies and procedures of the company (including personnel policies) and will follow these policies at all times.
Must have knowledge of and practice applicable infection control techniques.
Must have knowledge of, practice and enforce appropriate safety and injury-prevention measures.
Report any incident/accident immediately, regardless of severity.
Must attend relevant in-service education programs and other informational meetings.
Must follow up with all physician orders for medicine prescriptions, x-rays, blood testing, etc If Off hours for the nurse.
Must notify RCC if resident needs and any personal hygiene items at least one week in advance.
Must keep soiled personal laundry in plastic bag in resident room until their scheduled wash day.
No soiled items are to be loose in the closet.
Must keep residents' closets and drawers neat, orderly and free of odors.
Must keep residents' rooms clean, neat and orderly; curtains, bed, bath, linens and furniture included.
Must ensure that resident items are properly labeled.
Must assist residents to the dining room and with activities.
Must serve residents meals with proper food safety techniques, assisting with cutting meat, eating, serving beverages and other dining activities.
Must wash resident clothing according to proper techniques and schedule.
Must shower, shave (Including women) and groom residents as scheduled making sure all residents are clean and shampooed no less than weekly.
Must make residents' beds, changing linens weekly or more often if needed.
Towels are to be changed weekly or more often if needed and refolded daily so bathroom is neat and tidy.
Must perform carpet, wheelchair and common area cleaning as scheduled.
Must bring keys, name tag and walkie talkie to each scheduled shift and in full uniform.
Must assist with colostomy, urosotomy and catheters.

Duties will require movement throughout the building and facility grounds.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Required duties and tasks:
Assist residents in all areas of daily living activities.
Documents issues in the computer regarding any changes or other information pertinent about the resident prior to the change of shift to ensure efficient follow-up for the next shift and for the nurse to document in the resident chart.
Answers phones promptly, courteously and directs calls.
Demonstrates a positive customer-service attitude to all residents and cooperates between departments.
Has knowledge of and follows policies and procedures of the company at all times.
Reports any incident/accident immediately, regardless of severity.
Completes incident reports in their entirety prior to leaving shift for the day.
Practices appropriate infection control techniques/procedures.
Attends in-services and informational meetings.
Assists with monitoring resident personal hygiene items.
Greets and directs visitors to the facility appropriately.
Does laundry as scheduled.
Labels residents' items.
Assists with transportation to activities and dining.
Keeps resident closets and drawers neat and orderly.
Notifies administrator or RCC of any physical facility needs to ensure everything works properly in resident rooms.
Bathes residents as scheduled.
Keeps resident rooms neat and orderly ; Makes beds after residents are groomed, bathed and dressed for the day.
Passes medications as directed.
Assists residents with medications.
Assists residents with their dining activities to ensure proper nutrition.
Reports to work on time.
Can be relied upon to attend work as scheduled.
Attends all in-services required for certification and as required per policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Follows HIPAA/confidentiality regulations and requirement.
Accepts as a condition of employment, responsibility to be at the building or emergency shelter in the event of a natural or other emergency (especially hurricanes).
